The Seattle branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Soceity hosts classes in Scottish Country Dancing for beginners through advanced at several locations in the greater Seattle area.  They also have monthly parties, special occasion  events,  and host the Fort Worden Scottish Country Dance Weekend Workshop annually  in September. The YMCA Belly Dancers are lead by Kat Elbortoukaly.  Kat has been teaching Belly Dance at the University Family YMCA since 2001. She is trained in additional group-fitness formats, however prefers to keep her focus and passion with dance. Originally from Salt Lake City, she has been dancing since the age of 8. Currently, she lives and works in Seattle as an engineer by day and dancer by night. On a weekly basis she performs, rehearses and teaches, giving her life balance and soul. The Gloria Darlings are a Seattle-based female indie-folk-grass band. An innovative string band like nothing ever seen or heard, they sing bright, vibrant, vocal harmonies to a one-of-a-kind courting dulcimer (one instrument both gals play at the same time)! These young ladies are both multi-instrumentalists: fiddle, mandolin, guitar, autoharp, and mountain dulcimer. Often-called sirens, their catchy original tunes weave through the crowd. Leo, Sami, and Riley are three musicians who have known each other since like a zillion years ago. Okay, 9 or 10 years ago, but whatever. Sami leans more on to the cape breaton style while Riley leans towards pretty much everything. Beach 3 has played at American Folklife Festival, the Tilth Fair, and and many other places. Baile Glas Irish Dance
Baile Glas celebrates the joyful traditions of Irish dancing in Seattle, and Bellevue. The dancers, children, ages 6 through teens, perform lively jigs, reels, and hornpipes in the step dance style of Ireland. The dance school is under the direction of Maggie Corrigan, TCRG. Pam Mortensen
In 2005 the sound of a simple hollow stick, the didgeridoo, captured Pamela Mortensen’s imagination by way of hearing an album by Aboriginal player David Hudson. This newfound experiment quickly turned into a passion taking Mortensen on a journey like no other. She weaves a combination of light and dark, complexity and simplicity, color and contrast and touches it at times with a sense of humor transporting listeners to a realm of inner and outer spaces. The result is a richly colored tapestry of sound that is quickly becoming recognized and is earning her a spot as one of best of the emerging talent in didgeridoo playing in the US.
